Get Involved — Volunteer!

When we all help a little bit, we can make great things happen for DYE. We care a whole lot about not pressuring anyone to volunteer for things they don't want to do. We also know that most of us WANT to get involved, somehow! Its our job to link people up to the right volunteer opportunities, so that everyone feels connected and all of this goodness keeps going for our kids school.

We have lots of volunteer opportunities, and we're working to get them all listed here so you can browse the list and sign up for the ones that sound right for you! These are online signups, click below to find out more about each one. (And check back- we're adding forms as we get them set up!)

Culver's Night (9/17/26)

Volunteer to run food during our Culver's Night fundraiser. Staff, parents, and students are all invited to sign up to volunteer; students must be supervised and assisted by their own adult.

Fall Book Fair 2026

The Fall Book Fair is looking for volunteers to help set up/tear down, run cash register, and assist students with purchases.

Trunk or Treat (10/23/26)

Our annual neighborhood Trunk or Treat at DYE! Volunteer to decorate your trunk and pass out candy, or to be a helper for this event

Fall Grade Level Parties (11/24/26)

Help run special games, crafts, and snacks during specials time, right before Thanksgiving break! (Planned by our event chair, so just show up and we'll show you where we need you!)

Culver's Night (12/18/26)

Volunteer to run food during our Culver's Night fundraiser. Staff, parents, and students are all invited to sign up to volunteer; students must be supervised and assisted by their own adult.

Spring Grade Level Parties (3/19/27)

Help run special games, crafts, and snacks during specials time, right before Spring Break! (Planned by our event chair, so just show up and we'll show you where we need you!)

*Please note, there are a few things that only PTA members can sign up for. Those won't show up here unless you are logged in AND have a PTA membership. We're not trying to exclude anyone, just playing by the rules (both child safety and nonprofit law).

Blue Springs School District Volunteer Policy

All volunteers over the age of 18 must have a background check completed with the school district. If you arrive at the school to volunteer for PTA but do not have this on file, you will be turned away.

Please go to the link below and fill out a form to volunteer at Daniel Young Elementary, at least five (5) days before the event for which you are volunteering.

(If you are volunteering at multiple buildings, you only need to complete one application. After completing the first application, contact the Building's School Resource Officer for the school you applied at and let them know you have students at additional locations.)

volunteer incentive program

The Blue Springs School District also has a volunteer incentive program for anyone that volunteers 50 plus hours a school year. We submit all volunteers that have reached 50 hours and 100 hours to the district. Things they have give to these volunteers in the past have been Lifetouch coupons and BSSD activity passes. The top volunteer for our organization is given a special gift from the Blue Springs PTA Council.
